課程概述 |
This course consists of 1) analysis of the professional practice of IT text translation in terms of both linguistic and technical issues, and 2) introduction to what a typical IT text should look like (sentence structures, terminology, etc.). During the semester, students are expected to complete hands-on tasks in various subfields in the form of in-class exercises and assignments. By the end of the semester, students should be able to process IT texts with a reasonable amount of technicality and provide an accurate piece of translation. |

課程目標 |
The course is designed to introduce the strategies and technicalities of IT text translation. Students will 1) learn to evaluate and identify the jargons in IT texts, 2) practice IT text translation in both directions (i.e. both EC and CE), and 3) give individual or group presentations on a relevant topic to help the class discuss and identify key strategies which are available and conducive to the process of IT text translation. |

課程要求 |
1. Attendance is mandatory. Students who miss more than three classes will automatically fail the course.
2. All assignments must be submitted within the designated time period. No late submission is allowed unless there is prior negotiation with the instructor.
3. Students are expected to proactively participate in each class meeting and complete assigned tasks after class (e.g. self-critic, peer review, etc.). |
